Faculty Development & Development
Project Details
Role: Designer & Front-End Developer
Problem
The Office of Faculty Development & Diversity (OFDD) supports Cornell faculty across their careers, including research and scholarship, tenure and promotion, mentorship, and academic leadership, while also serving department chairs on recruitment, retention, and climate. The content needed to serve two distinct audiences, individual faculty and department leadership, without one group’s needs crowding out the other’s.
Process
- Organized the site’s full range of programming into clear, audience-specific paths, distinguishing content aimed at individual faculty from resources meant for department leadership
- Designed the homepage to surface the office’s core content areas, faculty development, department resources, grants and awards, and partnerships, as direct entry points, paired with a running list of upcoming events and workshops
- Given the sensitivity of some of the office’s work, including reporting incidents or bias concerns, made sure those key actions were easy to locate without requiring visitors to dig through menus
Outcome
A clean, approachable site that reflects OFDD’s role as a resource hub, helping faculty and administrators quickly find the programming, funding, or support relevant to them.
